Universal Design
Universal
design means designing for the whole range of humanity.
It addition to offering solutions for disabled people,
it takes into account the tremendous variations among
so-called "normal" people that are not
currently considered in the built environment. For
example, children cannot reach faucet sinks without
chairs and a tall person cannot wash dishes without back
strain. Proponents of universal design say manufacturers
need to redesign products to accommodate variations in
size and mobility. With
today's growing "baby boomer" market, the
desire to give children greater independence, parents
moving in with their children and the desire to age in
place is creating a greater need for products and
design. Viking Kitchen Cabinets offers a range of
products designed to meet the needs for universal access
and has designers specifically trained in universal
design.
Chemically Friendly
Those that are chemically
sensitive or severely allergic should do all that they
can to eliminate the sources or causes of their allergic
reactions. In today's building materials market, many
product out gas a variety of toxic chemicals that
can cause varied health problems from minor irritations
to severe reactions. It may be an obvious chemical such
as formaldehyde, which can have numerous effects
depending on the individual, or some thing less obvious
and perhaps harder to identify. Viking Kitchen Cabinets
offers a number of products to meet the unique needs of
the sufferer. Often times the use of stainless steel
cabinets, Corian or granite countertops or merely the
elimination of particleboard or plywood in a cabinet's
construction mixed with the right stain or paint can
offer tremendous relief and an improved quality of life.
Viking Kitchen Cabinets can help to provide the right
materials and expertise to make a chemically sensitive
persons house a more comfortable home.
