Kitchen Remodel with Waterfall Island

“I’ve recommended Viking Kitchens to my clients for many years, and now finally have worked with them on my own kitchen project” says Lisa Newman, owner of Made Rite Shades and Interiors of Hamden of her recent kitchen remodel project.

“Working with Roberta was great. She really, really listened to what I was looking for and how the design would integrate into my whole house. She is so good with details. She is also so easy to work with: the whole project was simple and quick.”

Behind the clean lines and the beautiful soft colors, there is a huge amount of storage space. Cabinets by UltraCraft add space all around the kitchen: either side of the fridge, a full-height wall opposite the fridge, in the island, in the wet bar area, and around the cooktop area. The exterior cabinets feature Stickley doors in Maple with a Painted Pebble Grey Brown Linen Finish and include a rollout spice drawer. The island cabinets feature Metropolis doors in textured Melamine with a Silver Elm VT finish, and include pot and pan drawers.

Her favorite aspect of her new kitchen? “I love my island. I obsess over it! It’s so well designed. It’s so easy to work on that it’s my main workspace for prepping and for serving. Everything is perfect: the height, the width, the placement.”

The waterfall island has a drop mitre design crafted from Cambria Ironsbridge quartz. The pattern and finish creates a stunning centerpiece.

Lisa loves cooking for family and friends, often for 5, 10, and even 15 people. “I cook so often, so the physical layout of the kitchen is really important to me. Roberta captured the look and the functionality I wanted.” Cooking for so many people could be daunting, but for Lisa it is a pleasure: “The kitchen is very easy to work in, the lighting is great, and has a sense of peace.”

“It’s the perfect space to entertain: everybody loves it!”
