Technical Bulletin: Light Rail Molding
When it comes to kitchen design, the smallest details often make the biggest difference! Our Vice President of Sales, Nicole Chicketti, walks you through the role of light rail molding and how it can enhance both the functionality and aesthetics of your space.
What Is Light Rail Molding?
Installed along the bottom edge of wall cabinets, light rail molding is a trim piece designed to conceal under-cabinet lighting. It helps to create a clean, polished look.
Options for Different Cabinet Constructions
As Nicole explains in the video, both framed and frameless cabinets offer ways to incorporate light rail. From recessed bottoms to molding that sits flush with cabinet doors, these options add a finishing touch that hides wires and enhances visual appeal.
Inset Cabinetry Applications
Viking Kitchens also offers inset cabinetry, where the doors and drawer fronts are set flush with the face frame. Light rail molding can be installed upside down in these applications, thanks to the extra space on the face frame. This creative approach results in a refined, finished edge that complements the clean lines of inset cabinetry.
Paired with Lighting
While Viking Kitchens doesn’t sell under-cabinet lighting, we work closely with local partners, like Connecticut Lighting Centers in Hartford and Southington, to help our customers
complete their setup with ease.
