A Home Designed Around the River Views

Every project begins with a vision, and this East Hartford home had a unique one from the start. Working with Viking Design & Sales Specialist Xander Levinson, the homeowner wanted the space to feel like living aboard a cruise ship, taking full advantage of expansive views overlooking the Connecticut River and Hartford skyline. The result is a home where coordinated materials, custom details and natural finishes complement the surrounding landscape.

The kitchen sets the tone with Greenfield Medina cabinetry. A soft Eucalyptus painted finish with a brown glaze is used around the perimeter, while a Breakwater-stained walnut island brings warmth and contrast. Custom beadboard paneling carries throughout the kitchen and coordinates with the wood range hood to add architectural character.

TopKnobs Lawrence bar pulls and Ormonde knobs in a honey bronze finish pair well with the soft green and walnut cabinetry. In the bathrooms, Richelieu brushed nickel pulls provide a clean, understated finish that works with both vanity designs.

One of the standout features is a walk-through pantry-style cabinet that provides discreet access to the homeowner’s office. It’s a great example of how custom cabinetry can add function without interrupting the overall design.

Fusion White polished quartzite from OHM International creates continuity throughout the kitchen and bathrooms. Sequential slabs were used in all three rooms, including the full-height kitchen backsplash, allowing the natural movement of the stone to seamlessly carry from one surface to the next.

The primary bath continues the custom approach with a floating vanity accented by a stone lower trim that extends the countertop design, while the second bath complements the home’s clean, contemporary aesthetic with coordinated cabinetry, fixtures, and finishes.

The primary bath features Siteline Coulter cabinetry in a Holland painted finish, along with a floating vanity and stone lower trim that continues the look of the quartzite countertop. The second bath uses Siteline Donovan cabinetry in Tundra Supermatte, paired with the same quartzite and brushed nickel hardware.

This project illustrates how intentional material selections can give each space its own identity while creating a home that’s truly distinctive.
